ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Pendred Noyce is a physician, educator, and children’s author dedicated to science education. In 1992, she helped establish the Noyce Foundation in memory of her father, Robert Noyce, co-inventor of the integrated circuit (computer chip) and founder of Intel. The foundation supports math and science education for K-12 students. During nine years helping to lead a statewide math/science improvement effort in Massachusetts, Penny worked on standards, assessment, partnerships, teacher training, and parent involvement. During that period Massachusetts rose to become the top-scoring state in the US. Penny’s past published writing includes a 2011 book she co-edited for Harvard Education Press on formative assessment in math, science, and literacy. She is also the author of the award-winning middle-grade Lexicon Adventure series from Scarletta Press.
